NHS England require that the net earnings of doctors engaged in the practice is publicised, and the required disclosure is shown below. However it should be noted that the prescribed method for calculating earnings is potentially misleading because it takes no account of how much time doctors spend working in the practice, and should not be used to form any judgement about GP earnings, nor to make any comparison with any other practice.
All GP practices are required to declare the mean earnings (e.g. average pay) for GPs working to deliver NHS services to patients at each practice.
The average pay for GPs working at Burn Brae Medical Group in the last financial year was £101,063 before tax and National Insurance. This is for 3 full time GPs and 6 part-time GPs.

From this autumn, many people can apply for a personal health budget.
Personal health budgets are being introduced by the NHS to help people manage their care in a way that suits them.
Burn Brae Medical Group serves the market town of Hexham and the surrounding area. Our Primary Health Care Team includes eight regular doctors and three practice nurses as well as as our management, administrative and reception staff.
We also have on site a community nursing team, a health visiting team, community midwives, counsellors, a dietician and a CPN who all work closely with us.
Burn Brae Medical Group is a “training practice”. This means qualified doctors wishing to enter general practice spend six months or more with us in order to gain the experience they need to become family doctors. We train medical students at various stages of their university education. We are also involved in training other health care professionals such as student nurses and health visitors as well as other postgraduate placements. We are grateful for the support of our patients in participating in our teaching programmes.
We have a long and proud history of serving the local community and offering high quality health care to patients young and old.
