Updated 12th July 2021. Please read on for the latest news on the covid-19 vaccination programme.
The NHS have divided the vaccination programme into two distinct phases:
Phase 1 is for people aged 50+ or Health and Social care workers, or in a clinical risk group.
Phase 2 is for everyone else aged 18-49.
Since December, 7 local Practices working together have delivered over 35,000 Covid-19 vaccinations to patients in Phase 1, the majority at the Primary Care Centre in Hexham.
At the same time as we have called our patients for vaccination, the National Booking System has also been contacting people by letter and text message, so some of our patients have been vaccinated at Mass Vaccination Sites such as the Centre for Life in Newcastle or further afield.
We have completed vaccinating patients in Phase 1 and our last big clinic was on 12th June.
Phase 2 of the vaccination programme will be delivered to our patients via the National Booking System, with appointments booked online or through 119. These appointments will be at Mass Vaccination Sites such as the Centre for Life. A Mass Vaccination Site at the Hexham Mart will also be opening soon and we expect that appointments there will be available to book online or through 119 in due course.
Phase 2 patients will not be able to book their appointments through the Practice as we do not have access to the National Booking System. Therefore please do not phone us to book your appointment, but call 119 or use the National Booking Service website
We understand that there will be a booser vaccination programme in the Autumn. At the moment we have no more information than has been reported in the national news media.
