All patients aged 65+ are eligible for a free flu vaccine this year as well as those under 65 who fall into an at-risk group.
Note: NHS England have informed us that the national flu programme for adults must not start until 3rd October this year to ensure the vaccine remains effective throughout the winter flu season (a full explanation is available here). As a result we will not be holding clinics during September and we will not be offering opportunistic vaccination during routine appointments in September. Our two mass vaccination clinics will be held on Saturday 5th and Saturday 19th October.
We will still be able to vaccinate everyone that would like a vaccine before the end of October, though we know that some poeple would prefer a later vaccine due to holidays or other reasons.
Vaccine invitations will be sent by text message with a booking link so you can book into one of our clinics. In addition to our Saturday clinics we will be holding smaller mid-week clinics. If you receive a text message inviting you to book an appointment, please use the self-booking option if at all possible. Invitations will be sent to all eligible patients during September. If you haven't received a text message by late September then we may not have the correct mobile number for you and you will need to phone us to book your appointment, or book in person.
All children aged 2-3 years old will be eligible to be vaccinated at the Practice and we will contact parents once vaccine is available. Children in at-risk groups can choose to have their vaccine at school if their school year is being vaccinated this year, or at the Practice. Older children in at-risk groups will need an appointment at the Practice.
As before anyone eligible for the Covid-19 vaccination will be contacted separately and vaccines will be administed at Hexham Mart or "pop-up" clinics in other places. All appointments for Covid-19 vaccination will be booked through the National Booking Service or by calling 119
