Thinking about travelling abroad? We highly recommend the Travel Health Pro website for up to date information on risks and recommended vaccinations.

The Practice Nurse team offers advice and vaccinations for foreign travel. This is strictly on an appointment-only basis.  Where possible we recommend that you plan ahead and seek advice at least one month before travel (two months if taking a prolonged trip or visiting many countries e.g. gap year). The reason for this is that most vaccines take seven to ten days to be fully effective and you may need more than one visit to the surgery to complete your course of injections.

We are unable to provide the following:
Emergency appointments squeezed in when we are fully booked
Vaccinations when date of departure is less than 48 hours away
Vaccinations not covered by the NHS. You will be advised to visit a private travel clinic for vaccines not available on the NHS.

If you know that you will require vaccines that are not available on the NHS then you can still be seen locally. Contact Masta who provide a private vaccination service. For a small charge they will review your itinerary and vaccination history by telephone and then book you into the Saturday Hub, here at the Primary Care Centre. You will pay a fee for your vaccinations, but any available on the NHS will be provided for free at the clinic.

We cannot provide the following vaccines here:
Rabies
Japanese Encephalitis
Yellow Fever
Cholera
Hepatitis B unless you also need Hepatitis A and have the combined vaccine.
